The vision of London 2012 is to draw on the power of the Olympic and Paralypic Games to inspire change. Our vision in the North West is to make an inspirational contribution to this once in a lifetime event and maximise the benefits to the region, during the UK's hosting period and long after.
"The North West has sport, it has culture and it has Olympians. The North West is a place that knows how to connect sport and culture to communities." Seb Coe
In the North West a group was established to oversee the development and delivery of London 2012 in our region, this is the North West Steering Group for the London 2012 Games. The membership includes representation from all sectors and across the five subregions of the North West. Their job is to place London 2012 in a regional context to ensure sport, art, business, tourism and the community in the region get involved, contribute and benefit from the London 2012 Games.
A number of reports have been published by the Steering Group; you can download these on our Resources page.
London 2012 is not just about sport or London. It is about everything and everyone and it's happening here all over the North West.
