Punchline is a multi-media performance combining boxing, music, dance and film. Involving a team of artists and boxing trainers working with young people from across the region, this new work draws on participants’ personal and social struggles.
Content created for the project will be projected on screens around a boxing ring with more performance activities taking place live inside the ring. Working in partnership with artists Perfect Motion, featuring Villmore James and dancer/choreographer/filmmaker Genevieve Say, this project forms part of ‘Glory Road’ – a Channel 4 documentary about four Merseyside boxers who are Olympic hopefuls.
The project will provide creative training in dance, music, boxing and film that will enable participants to engage in the creative process. Punchline will deliver high quality performance through cutting edge collaborative work with communities and bring Merseyside boroughs together to deliver important cultural services.
